PROSTHETIC DENTISTRY

Prosthetics is a branch of science that is concerned with the restoration of missing tooth tissues. All gaps in a patient's dentition can be filled by means of crowns, bridges, dentures and implants. Our aim is to restore the patient's beautiful smile thanks to using the latest prosthetic technologies. We take pride in high standard of our prosthetic services. Our patients' satisfaction is a great source of pleasure for us.

Crowns

Crowns are not only a perfect solution for increasing the aesthetic look of a patient's teeth but also in case when:
  • the crown of a tooth is weakened or destroyed because of an injury or extensive decay,
  • it is advisable to correct the shape, colour or location of some teeth

The first stage of treatment consists in polishing the tooth so that it has the right shape for capping. When cavities are too serious, it might be necessary to have endodontic treatment of the roots and prepare a crown-root inlay. It ensures that the right load is placed on the root and, at the same time, protects the tooth from breaking under the crown.

In our clinic, we offer prosthetic treatments using a few types of crowns:

  • ceramic veneer crowns
  • ceramic crowns

Using these kinds of crowns has numerous advantages:
  • aesthetics
  • very high precision and level of adjustment
  • biocompatibility of materials used
  • high durability and resistance to damages
  • no allergy - causing properties
  • functioning as non - conductors when in contact with something hot or cold

Bridge

A bridge is a fixed partial denture that serves to restore one or several missing teeth. This kind of denture can be fixed on the patient's own teeth, tooth roots or implants.

Veneer

Veneer is a way to correct a tooth's shape and colour without the need to polish all of the tooth surface. Veneers are used in the following cases:
  • broken teeth
  • single changes of colour in case of dead teeth
  • strong changes of colour that cannot be corrected by means of bleaching
  • extensive damages of tooth enamel
In such cases it is best to use ceramic veneers due to their high resistance to attrition and the durability of colour.

Dentures

Dentures are prosthetic elements that are used in order to restore missing teeth - also in case of toothless jaws. They are placed on the patient's gums and fixed by means of sucking. The newest solution in this area is nylon dentures, where the denture base is made of soft material and the brackets are transparent. This type of denture is very comfortable for patients to use and, what is more, it does not cause any damages to the patient's own teeth or gums. Nylon dentures are used in case of toothless jaws, in case of many teeth missing or in case of a high degree of tooth attrition.

Telescopic crown denture is a special type of over - denture. A properly polished tooth is covered with a close-fitting golden cap (internal telescope) and the second cap (external telescope) is covered with light-hardened composite and is an integral part of the denture. This type of denture is characterised by very high aesthetic values and is much more beneficial due to the fact the patient's own teeth are used in order to fix it.

Implant

An implant is just an artificial titanium tooth root inserted in the patient's jaw bone where there is a tooth missing. After having been integrated into the patient's bone, it can be used as support for crowns, bridges or dentures. The process of implant insertion is painless because the patient is under local anaesthetic. After the treatment some swelling might occur, but it shall cease within three days.

Crown-root inlays

A crown-root inlay is a prosthetic construction that is used in case when the patient's tooth crown has been totally or considerably damaged. In order to use this type of construction, it is necessary to complete the process of root canal therapy. Furthermore, there cannot be any lesions at the tip of the root. Crown-root inlays usually serve as basis for fixing prosthetic crowns.
